Hi, it’s great to meet you! I’m Cassidy, a student journalist.

The University of Missouri’s School of Journalism has equipped me with the experience, skills, and ethics to produce professional, impactful stories that meet the standards for publication across multiple platforms and newsrooms. Through their hands-on curriculum, I have now spent two semesters in professional newsrooms as a beat reporter, consistently completing work for publication and reporting on assignment. My writing and reporting for every story is rooted in emotion— I seek out what drives actions, words, movements, or inaction from people, places, communities, businesses, or organizations. From my real-world reporting experience to my involvement with Her Campus at Mizzou— an Elite Chapter of Her Campus Media— to the passion I approach all stories with, I am confident that I am just the storyteller you’re looking for.

intertwined with emotion.

My Work

When done correctly, a finished story shouldn’t be boring, dull, or void of emotion. It should capture a diverse range of motivation and community impact while remaining factual, timely, and relevant.

More than words

It’s no secret I love words, but I also love all things visual. I’m confident in my proficiency with both a DSLR camera and programs like InDesign or Canva. I’ve produced social media content weekly for three consecutive semesters as a member of the Her Campus Mizzou social media team, and, at several points over the years, I’ve brought a DSLR camera along on a few reporting assignments that I wanted to capture with more than words.

“Maybe I didn’t care too much about the world to be a reporter. Maybe caring about the world was instead a reason to pursue journalism.

I was born and raised in Dallas, TX. I have a secret love for U.S. history and not-so-secret obsessions with coffee, music, and reading. I love to talk about my favorite concerts, and I can make a home anywhere I find myself, so long as there’s cozy cafes and a used bookshop or two.
