Hi, it’s great to meet you! I’m Cassidy, a student journalist.
The University of Missouri’s School of Journalism has equipped me with the experience, skills, and ethics to produce professional, impactful stories that meet the standards for publication across multiple platforms and newsrooms. My writing and reporting for every story is rooted in emotion— I seek out what drives actions, words, movements, or inaction from people, places, communities, businesses, or organizations. From my involvement with HerCampus at Mizzou— an Elite Chapter of HerCampus Media— to consistently thriving in the MU Journalism classrooms, to the passion and curiosity I approach all stories with, I am confident that I am just the storyteller you’re looking for.
Look no further:
I believe journalism is deeply
intertwined with emotion.
When done correctly, a finished story shouldn’t be boring, dull, or void of emotion. It should capture a diverse range of motivation and impact while remaining factual, timely, and relevant.
I was born and raised in Dallas, TX. I have a secret love for U.S. history and not-so-secret obsessions with coffee, music, and reading. I love to talk about my favorite concerts, and I can make a home anywhere I find myself, so long as there’s cozy cafes and a used bookshop or two.
More than words.
It’s no secret I love words, but I also love all things visual. I know my way around a DSLR and InDesign or Canva quite well. From photo stories to favors for friends, and Instagram collages to trendy TikTok videos, I do much more than just write.
“Maybe I didn’t care too much about the world to be a reporter. Maybe caring about the world was instead a reason to pursue journalism.”
